This 90-minute online session explores how community-governed approaches to scholarly publishing are taking shape across Africa, Europe, and Latin America. The discussion will engage with key Open Science concepts including preprints, open peer review, and curation, and consider how nonprofit, scholar-led models can operate within Diamond Open Access principles. Through perspectives from the three regions represented in ALMASI, participants are invited to reflect on how scholarly communication is being reimagined as a community-driven endeavour.

The session will feature contributions from:

  • Zehra Taşkın (Hacettepe University, TSV), who will open with an overview of the Diamond Open Access landscape across the three regions;
  • Femi Qudus Arogundade (WACREN), bringing an African perspective through COPPHA PublishNow;
  • Patricia Pedri (UFPE), contributing a Latin American perspective grounded in her expertise on open peer review and Open Science;
  • Thomas Guillemaud (INRAE), sharing a European perspective through Peer Community In and the Peer Community Journal.

You can also read more about the session on the ALMASI news page and help us spread the word by sharing our LinkedIn announcement with your networks.

We look forward to welcoming you to the discussion.
