ORCID: Your Persistent Research ID
One iD. All your research.
Simple as 1, 2, 3….
Important! To enable correct linking always use the true full name of the institution:
Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.
The Open Science Centre at UKIM recommends that all researchers register and maintain a public ORCID iD. This will enable improved referencing, increased visibility, and easier integration with future systems.
What is ORCID?
ORCID provides a unique, persistent identifier (ORCID iD) for researchers that distinguishes you from everyone else.
It automatically connects to your publications, data, affiliations, and projects regardless of where you work or publish at the moment.

ORCID is a widely accepted unique identifier for researchers. It is a simple numeric code in a fixed format (e.g., 0000-0001-6479-5330). Each researcher should have only one ORCID iD, which remains unchanged throughout their research career.
ORCID helps distinguish between researchers with the same name, ensuring the correct individual is referenced in a given publication. It also allows multiple names to be linked to the same identifier. This is useful, for example, in cases of name changes due to marriage or other reasons.
With ORCID, your publications will be easier to find. ORCID is indexed by Google Scholar and can be linked to major publication databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. By assigning a unique identity to your papers, patents, datasets, and other outputs, you make it easier for others to discover your work when searching for research publications.
Why is ORCID important for the UKIM researchers?

- Strictly required or recommended by many journals and publishers
- Helps with automated reporting and CV generation
- Only way to present researchers information when applying for European grants
- Integrated with UKIM’s institutional repository – show me how to add a publication from ORCID to the UKIM repository
